Image from the “Objets Trouvés” series, a pictorial embedding of a randomly encountered everyday object into a large-scale environment, representation technique: image montage, student work – selection, course: UE-N “Art and Architecture – Constructing the View II“, taught by Philipp Schaerer, spring semester 2015, School of Architecture, Swiss Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) The module was devoted to the concept of the “Objet Trouvé” and its application in the architectural image. The key feature of this category is the fact that objects, after being removed from their initial function and context, acquire new meaning in another connection. The task was to imbed randomly encountered everyday objects into a large-scale environment. To accomplish this, formally interesting everyday objects were collected and photographed according to the regularities of light and perspective prevalent in the base pictures and finally joined appropriately into the new picture context.
